HOW TO INAUGURATE A COMMITTEE

Committees serve different purposes, notable of which is to look into issues, investigate and return a report of findings targeted towards achieving an overall GOAL.

 

For instance, Peace Committee

In an area or place that has been at war or hostilities for a period and this has caused withdrawal of membership, allegiance, loyalty and returns. It is proper for a person in constituted authority overseeing such a given area to seek to know not only what the matter is, but to get at the root of the matter.

It behooves such a person to set up a Committee composed of persons who are loyal to him or at worst, neutral.

He should firstly get about two persons from that area who are reasonable to be on the Committee.

5 Steps in Setting up a Committee

1: To announce to the observing public the avowed desire to ensure that peace reigning in other areas of his domain, should be extended to bring back and include, the few who are opting out of it. They should be made to believe that he who is setting up the Committee,has their interest at heart and the time to return to the fold could not be at a more opportune time. They must hear that Peace is first on his list of priorities.

2:Appoint and send out the List of  members of the Committee.

3: Furnish the Committee with the relevant Terms of Reference .

4: Give time duration for the Committee to complete their work and give Report..

5: Prepare a programme of events of the Inauguration with date, time(Prompt) and venue.

5 Steps in Setting up a Committee

The programme shall include events to be handled by the member thus:

  1. Time
  2. Opening prayer
  3. Opening remarks by the Authority
  4. Response by the Chairman of the Committee
  5. Reading out the List of members
  6. Oath of Allegiance to be taken by the Committee members led by the Authority.
  7. The Authority charges the Committee members to spring into action.
  8. He calls for comments
  9. Closing prayer.

How to Take Oath of Allegiance 

An oath of allegiance is an oath whereby a subject or citizen acknowledges a duty of allegiance and swears loyalty to a monarch or a country. In modern republics, oaths are sworn to the country in general, or to the country’s Constitution.

The authority requests members to put their right palms on their chest and repeat after him. I. (name of committee members), by the grace of God and to the glory of God, having consented to kindly responsd to the clarion call for selfless service and sacrifice, do hereby undertake to carry out the assignment as unto God. So help me God in Jesus name. Amen.
